Halloween Creatures Book Tag

Hey guys! So I was searching through some Halloween/Spooky Month tags and I found this one and I’m super excited to do it!

So this tag was creating by Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward and I think it’s so awesome, especially for those who love spooky things! It’s a perfect combination for people who love books and creepy creatures. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

Ahh one more thing! Any book that I mention within the tag that I have reviewed will be linked where I mention it. Make sense? Let’s hope so.

Witch

A Magical Character or Book

My witchy book is actually two (soon to be three) books. They are The Bone Witch Trilogy by Rin Chupeco. As of right now, there are two books, The Bone Witch and The Heart Forger, in this series. But the third novel, The Shadowglass is set to release sometime in 2019 (?).

This novel holds all of witchy business you could want (obviously but whatever) and in such an unique method.

Werewolf

The Perfect Book to Read at Night

So here’s another Fun Fact about Ash! At this point, I feel like I should just make this a thing. But Fun Fact! I used to have nightmares every single night and what I found helped was reading The Classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales. To this day, I’ll still read sometimes before bed to help. Now though, I mainly read The Arabian NightsBeauty and the Beast and other Classic Fairy Talesalong with The Classic Grimm’s Fairy TalesOh! And the stories from The Rebel of the Sands Trilogymade up of Rebel of the Sands, Traitor of the Throne, and Hero at the Fall! When I finished the series, I bookmarked all the stories told by the storytellers and typed them on my typewriter.

Question for you guys! Would you guys like a review of the classics I listed above and others like it? I’ve been on the fence with posting reviews for them for a while so I would like your guy’s opinion!

Frankenstein

A Book that Truly Shocked You

If I had to pick one, it would probably be The Autobiography of Jack the Ripper by James Carnac. It was shocking because of how detailed he chronicled the murders and how much his life before the murders made it seem plausible that he could have committed them. If you’re down to read about one of the most, if not the most, infamous serial killers in the world, I would definitely recommend this one!

The Devil

A Dark, Evil Character

The Sultan from The Rebel of the Sands Trilogy (links are above). I didn’t really realize how much of an ass this character was until the moment when I was trying to figure out the most evil character I could think of. This dude killed his father, his brothers, a few of his wives, millions of innocent people, attempted to commit a version of mass genocide, and murdered a few of his sons. HE ISN’T A GREAT GUY.

Grim Reaper

A Character that Should Never Have Died

!!! This is your spoiler alert for if you haven’t read the Six of Crows Duology, Six of Crows and Crooked KingdomPrimarily Crooked Kingdom but you can’t be too safe !!!

MATTHIAS HEVLAR. Matthias shouldn’t have died. Not when and how he did. Nina and Matthias deserved their happy ending. Nina NEEDED HIM AND HE WAS MURDERED.

As you can see. I’m not over Bardugo killing Matthias.

Zombie

A Book that Made You “Hungry” for More

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. After I read this novel, I researched every single novel Bardugo was so much as featured on and I bought and read all of them. And then she became my favorite author. I became so immersed in the way she writes and I still am to this day.

Gargoyle

A Character that You Would Protect at All Cost

Inej Ghafa — again from the Six of Crows Duology. Honestly all of the crows deserve to be protected at all cost (even though they are all fully capable of doing it themselves, except for maybe Wylan but he has Jesper so he’ll be fine) but ESPECIALLY INEJ. This woman was kidnapped from her family, sold into indentured servitude slavery, and became the best spy in her city before she was 18. This woman is remarkable oh my goodness.

Vampire

A Book that Sucked the Life Out of You

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Guys I have tried so hard to get into Harry Potter and see what everyone else does in it but I just can’t. I read the first novel and about 1/3 into the second novel and then I just had to stop. I couldn’t get into it and I don’t think I ever will.

Ghost

A Book that Still Haunts You

The Tourist by Robert Dickinson. I started this novel pre-book blog, got 100 pages in, couldn’t figure out what the fluff was happening so I stopped. This novel still haunts me to this day because I didn’t finish it. I have plans to try to on a rainy day.

Demon

A Book that Really Scared You

I’m not really scared by books I’ve come to realize but the last novel that did scare me (when I was like 10) was House by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. It’s such a good novel and I love it to this day.

Skeleton

A Character You Have a Bone to Pick With

Inan from Children of Blood and BoneSomeone just needs to tell him to make up his fricking mind on what he wants and is going to do. Also, someone needs to check him on his warped sense of “love” because it’s not the best.

Credit to Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward once again because I could not, for the life of me, think of a character until I re-read his post. I completely agree that someone needs to tell Inan to get his act together.

Mummy

A Book You Would Preserve Throughout Time

I don’t know if this really counts because it’s already a classic but I’m putting it anyways!

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Everything about this novel is completely and utterly beautiful to me. All I can say is that there is a reason this novel is considered a classic and it deserves that honor.

Creepy Doll

A Cover Too Scary to Look At

I don’t really have or have seen a novel with a cover that was too scary to look at. So whoops!

Thanks for reading this tag! I’ll see you tomorrow with the weekly Friday Tag and Friday’s Killer Read!
